COMMUNITY NEWS - MARCH 2010
I Train Your Kids Challenges Kids & Families To Log Off & Get Your Game On!

I Train Your Kids is an innovative new concept in fitness training targeted especially for children and teens. Founded by certified Youth Fitness Trainer, Heather Hackett, the company has adopted the motto, “Log off…and get your game on!” I Train Your Kids offers personal training and nutrition counseling for youth at all levels of fitness.
According to the National Survey of Children's Health (NSCH) and Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, more than one-third of children ages 10 to 17 are obese (16.4 percent) or overweight (18.2 percent). With 33.1% of children overweight and obese, Florida is no exception. Yet schools have had to cut back on physical education programs and after school activities.
“That's why I'm here. I want to teach children early on how to eat healthy and live an active lifestyle,” explains Hackett. “I do not put children on a diet. I teach them a way of life and how to make healthy lifestyle decisions on their own.”
I Train Your Kids provides individual classes as well as Family In Training (F.I.T.) sessions that allow the parents and children the opportunity to workout together. Children's fitness camps throughout Sarasota, Bradenton, Lakewood Ranch and Ellenton are also planned.
“As a former high school teacher, I know that kids who are overweight lack self-confidence and tend to perform poorly in school,” says Hackett. “It starts a downward spiral for many young people that can damage them for life. That's why I started this company. Fitness isn't just my job, it's my lifestyle, and I'm committed to sharing it with kids.”
As a Youth Fitness Trainer and experienced dieter, Hackett is uniquely qualified to work with young people and inspire them to make the simple, yet life-changing choices. “I was an overweight kid myself, and I truly understand what it's like,” she explains.
Owner Heather Hackett is certified and insured. Training is offered both in and out of home. Visit www.itrainyourkids.com or call 941-735-5822 for more information.

Test Predicts Aging by Markers of Health and Disease Before Symptoms Develop

The BioAge® Analysis is an extensive health assessment that will allow you to compare your chronological age with your biological age. Researchers at Harvard School of Medicine agree that “aging” itself is disease and that its course can be slowed or even reversed. The BioAge® Analysis, therefore, emerges as a very important tool to combat the harmful effects of the aging process. The BioAge® Analysis is the most comprehensive biochemical view of your body's systems that will enable you to uncover functional challenges fundamental to life.
The test affords a rare opportunity to detect danger zones years before they manifest into signs, symptoms and even disease. The BioAge® Analysis looks at over 200 biochemical markers of health and disease. The best part about this test is that you will be able to take a proactive approach in reducing your biological age. In addition, it's affordable and can be performed anywhere in the United States.
In the early 1990's, Dr. DaSilva was involved in the biotech industry, discovering markers for the early detection of cancer and other life threatening diseases. His broad background in biochemistry, pathology, internal medicine and molecular medicine led to the development of the BioAge® Analysis. The ultimate goal for the BioAge® Analysis is to assess any biochemical challenges in order to restore the body to the way it was originally designed to be... “Full of life, Full of vigor and Full of happiness.” For more information, contact the daSilva Institute of Antiaging & Functional Medicine by email (info@daSilvaInstitute.com) or phone (1-888-8-daSilva).

I didn't want to be influenced by commercial considerations which would interfere with the pure experience of being in the moment.” says Sam Laundon, a.k.a. “Sarasota Sam.”
“I had gotten away from my photography, and my love of it. Then a move to Sarasota rekindled my enthusiasm. I enjoy sharing what I know with others, particularly when I'm tutoring. I taught at New England School of Photography for 20 years but much prefer working individually with people. It's more rewarding as a teacher, and more beneficial to the student.” To find out more about Sam's explorations of Sarasota, and his tutoring and portrait services visit www.SarasotaSam.com, or call him at 866-338-3597.
